Tales of My First Animation

What ever is a no budget filmmaker to do when they need an amazing animation done for their logo? They figure out how to use blender, obviously!

I've always been quite fond of this program. It showed me that even if you have NO clue what you're doing, you can learn the basics and actually create something 3D (completely useless crap in my case) in a matter of minutes.

With that being said, I obviously jumped at the chance to figure out how to animate using this program. This was especially true after we decided on using only 3 Hexagons in our professional looking logo.

After only 5 minutes of searching Google, I finally came across how to animate. After this exhausting search I decided to mentally cut my wrist (I'm emo like that) because I was too lazy to look for such easily obtainable information before, despite the fact I've always wanted to learn to animate.

I was further exhausted after I found out that after only minutes of messing with blender, I understood how easy animation really is.

So after hours (and by that I mean probably 2 hours) of tinkering, I developed something I call finished (close to it).

Our logo and title in progress

Our logo has been a work in progress. So far both Clint and I have contributed into the logo idea and we have come to a conclusion. We started our with coming up with the name "Project Evolution." I started out drawing my ideas on Photoshop by using the letter P & E and screwing around with the words.

Our first ideas. I came up with PE and tried to be creative with it. I changed the style and font, along with the color or pallet. Later I tried to come up with some positional ideas, where I wanted the words or how I could contribute the entire logo with PE. Our favorite idea at this time was the Jesus fish idea, but we decided to go for simple.

Then I came up with the titling idea, of the scrolling bars with Project Evolution in between.
I tried to go with an arrow effect or something like that, lol I do not really remember. I was not happy with this logo, but it was a cool idea so I stuck with it. I tried to animate the logo then but I could not come up with nay good ideas so I decided to extend the bars to go off the screen.
The first video of the animated logo
We wanted to use the colors red and black because they have a high contrast between the colors and they are very simple. We watched the video several times and decided the colors looked good but it just wasnt making it. I went back and tried to get creative with the title.
This is the second attempt
I finished this logo and I felt really happy with it until Clint disagreed and didnt like the logo. We talked about the logo and decided it was too much. The logo is very hard to follow and doesnt look professional.
We talked for a while about how the logo and title was coming together, but we just were not happy with it. So all our hard work went down the drain and we started over new.
I was in my history class in college and I started to think of a new logo idea. I thought back to evolution and the human cycle. I experimented with some ideas and tried to do something with a ring and arrows. They arrows would spin around Project Evolution to created an idea of never ending. I played around with the idea and came up with this.

I liked the idea of a rotating logo and it would be easy to animate. I also added a human foot print, along with a paw print and fish fin. It looked nice but it looked way to much like the recycling logo, lol how retarded. We decided to scratch this idea as well and come up with a new one. I thought at this point we were never going to find the perfect logo until I became inspired. I was looking through some nice looking websites to come up with a professional, but simple logo. Eventually, I came across a website that had logo ideas and I started to use them and come up with "The Prefect Logo," Dun Dun Duunn...

We came up with this, its perfect. It could not be anymore simple and also look so professional. We liked the hexagons in the background of the animated logos I did. Later, we noticed the metal gear solid title and saw three hexagons put together, so we took them and flipped them upside down. When we finished the logo the both of us looked at it and fell in love. Therefore, thus far we have the perfect looking logo. We just need to make it 3D and animate the logo.
